I've been running a B&W Companion slider 5th wheel hitch in my Ram since I got my camper a year ago. I chose the slider because I have a short bed (and my camper at the time needed more turning radius) and because I already had a B&W gooseneck hitch. While I love how solid the B&W is..... trying to remove that thing alone was a nightmare and with it installed, it rendered the bed virtually useless.

I steered away from the gooseneck adapters because of the torque they put on the rv frames. I just learned of the Reese Goosebox that is endorsed by Lippert. For those that don't know, the Goosebox replaces the factory pin box on the rv itself. Because of the design the box distributes the torque in the same manner as a 5th wheel kingpin but also includes an airbag and dual shocks to reduce chucking and bouncing.

After doing a lot of research and reading nothing but positive reviews we pulled the trigger yesterday. I sold the hitch and ordered the Goosebox. The only downside that I can think of is that it may be slightly more difficult to hitch up solo but I think time and experience will make that a non-issue. The benefit is that I have a clear bed all the way around the pinbox now, and when not hooked to the trailer there is nothing in the bed. Seems like a win/win.

Anyone else tried out the Goosebox yet?

I would recommend asking this on a forum dedicated to RVs and travel trailers, preferably a forum dedicated to your the primary manufacturer of your 5th wheel. You'll be communicating with a lot more people who are much more knowledgeable about your question. I have a travel trailer and any questions I have about it are posted there.
