I went camping last year with a Honda Tent (designed to hook up to our van) during the summer but at night it was 45F and too cold for my wife and kids. When we touched the tent it was totally wet at night even though there was no rain. Can you recommend a tent for 5 people that is very warm and water proof? It was my first time camping so we are not very experience.

The reason your tent was wet was due to all the moisture that five people exude overnight. 45 degrees is not that cold. Just make sure you have sleeping bags designed for the temperature range you're camping in. Get a Mr Buddy propane heater and light it up in the morning. Your tent will be warm in no time.

The problem is that your tent IS waterproof. People breath. Breath contains moisture. Moisture condensates when temperatures drop.

45F is damn near perfect. A little cold in my hammock though, have to break out an underquilt then.
Tents don't keep you warm. They are uninsulated for a good reason. That's why people use sleeping bags.
The big difference is that 3 season tents have more mesh and more ventilation than a 4 season tent. A 4 season tent will be warmer (too hot in mid summer) because of less air motion.

You need a large tent.

and make sure your tent has a "fly sheet" It goes over top of your tent and directs moisture away from the tent roof and walls.

IF you want to be warm, just buy a motor-home. That is not really camping, but camping is not for those who have difficulties with mild discomfort or adversities.

Gosh, that's so EXTREMELY helpful to these folks.

Not.

For the record, 45 is not cold morning temperature for mountain camping.

Bigger tent for that many people with screens, so windows can be open with no bugs.

Better sleeping bags (good for 30 below temps or colder) used on top.of insulated sleeping bag pads.

Sleep in your sweats with wool socks on, if you get cold.
