We are heading south to South Padre Island, TX this year. This will be our 3rd year as winter Texans. Prior to that we spent 2 winters in Florida as snowbirds.
Pros - Texas is much less expensive than Florida
Cons - SPI is at the bottom of the state. Getting in and out takes a while. We got as far north as New Braunfels this year when the virus changed our plans to head to the east coast. We got as far as Branson, MO, then began our journey back south.

I'm traveling the Great River Road, (Mississippi river) to Louisiana, then through Texas and over to Arizona. My plan is to stay in or near Quartzsite and learn as much as I can from long term travelers.

Enjoy your trip - I'm watching your Nomadic guy - it is interesting. Stay safe and take care of kitty.
Thanks Umbria. I joke with the cashiers that I spend more on her than I do on me. She can tell something is up and is being very clingy lately.
My family had a cabin off the Miss for long time. It was on a man made lake right off the Miss. across the river from Alma WI - outside of Wabasha. I believe the Hwy was 61. Spent a lot of time on that river. Party party on the many sandbars.
When I lived in NE Minneapolis, the Mississippi was within walking distance. I spent a lot of time 'down by the river', just dreaming.
When I went to Arizona, I couldn't believe the beautiful, wondrous sunsets. A piece of my heart will always be there. I look forward to seeing it again.
