We're a european couple with two small children who want to move away from Italy to Canada. We're both highly qualified in the Tourism and hospitality industry and want to know which city would best suit us.
Are there really lots of jobs in Vancouver, and is it worth it for the house prices?
Would Toronto offer better jobs with the benefit of better priced homes?
How difficult is it to find work in Calgary?
Can anyone suggest a city that may suit us better, we're getting a lot of mixed signals?
We would appreciate any feedback from Canadians or recent immigrants to Canada.
We want to visit Canada this autumn to check out the viability of a move there, but need to choose two places to visit to make the most of our time there. Please help.

I can't really speak for other cities but Calgary, and Alberta would definitely welcome your family and your expertise with open arms... We have had a hotel building boom here the past few years. We are still catching up from a glaring shortage of hotels and good restaurants in this province... That said, quality staff and management for these facilities is now desperately needed.
As for where you would feel most comfortable, I would probably venture to guess Montreal. Montreal is North America's most European city.

What kind of city are you looking for? Does it need to be a large city? More details would be helpful.
I'd say if you will be looking for jobs in the Tourism and hospitality industry then go to the areas with the most tourists.
Halifax
Montreal or Quebec City if your French is good
Vancouver
Victoria
Toronto.
If i were to pick two thats a tough choice
Halifax would be Canadas maritime tourism center.
Montreal or Quebec City if your French is good If not then i'd do
Vancouver and Victoria.
If you dont have jobs lined up maybe one of you should come over first and get a job and some semblance of stability before the other partner comes over..
I'd also check out the government website Immigrating to Canada
to make sure you can actually qualify before spending any money on exploratory trips..
Newfoundland and Labrador's tourism industry has experienced a lot of growth over the last few years so St. John's may be a spot for you as well. Of course that's if you don't care about being in a big city, if you do your options are pretty much Montreal, Toronto or Vancouver.

While I know that you are an enthusiastic booster of Newfoundland and Labrador generally, and St. John's in particular, I would be very careful about suggesting to anyone moving from overseas that they consider working in the tourism industry in Newfoundland and Labrador. I know more than a few capable life-long Newfoundlanders and Labradorians who have had to pack in their dreams of working in the tourism industry because the dough is not there. It may not be quite as lucrative as you think, poscstudent.
It all depends on what area you are in, therer's more money here now thea ever before. They'd have a better chance at making a go of it here it than in Halifax.
Most of the top ones have been mentioned here, except for Niagara Falls, which has a huge tourism industry.
Prince Edward Island, despite its small size, is also a big tourism destination, and relative to population is probably one of the top destinations in the country.
We are all forgetting Banff, Alberta. HUGE tourist industry.
I had it included in the references to Alberta, but yeah, you are right to single it out.
