Here's a real general question with sincerely positive intent.
My close friend is retired from a lengthy career as a police officer in North Carolina. He's in his late 40s. He has a franchised business during warmer months but has down time from December to March. He has expressed to me a strong desire to engage in an arrangement that would allow him to house-sit, and thereby protect and maintain, a property where he could reside for 4-6 weeks in a peaceful, natural setting (think lake country) in Canada, with location not too specific. Just not near the arctic circle lol. He would pay the owner $600-700 month to watch over their home while the owner winters in Florida, or wherever they desire to sun themselves for said 4-6 weeks.
Does anyone have an interest in this arrangement, know of someone who does, have a lead on a place that might make a match for him, or have any other helpful information? Thank you very much in advance!

For $600-700 a month, he could likely rent a small place in cottage country.
Much of cottage country is closed up for Canadian winters bringing on the problems of unplowed roads and nobody about and just about nothing to do..
I'd get a small bachelor apt closer to civilization or your pal will find out first hand about cabin fever.
Also lake country will be all ice.
Does your friend own his own home in North Carolina? I know that there are home-exchange programs. He might want to look into that, if he's open to having people stay in his home.
