Most people always move to Toronto as the number one city in Ontario in terms of great job prospects. However, I am just wondering if there are smaller cities in Ontario that offer almost similar job prospects and affordable housing? I hear Ottawa is a nice place to live. However, are there any other cities aside from Ottawa? For those of you who live in these smaller cities, what is your comparison to living in these smaller cities to Toronto?
I lived the first 25 years of my life in Toronto and then moved away to smaller towns and cities in Ontario. I have lived in the boonys, Teeswater On and in a little but upscale town, Collingwood, and in two mudium sized cities, St. Catherines, Kitchener and where I live now, Niagara Falls.
Out of all of those places I like The Niagara region the best For many reasons. You can still buy a decent house in Niagara Falls for under $200,000. That's a good start to my reasons. There is just everything a person could ever want without the hassles of the big city. The thing I don't like the most about Toronto is the constant gridlock on the roads. If I was ever to move back there I would only live in an area of the city where I did not have to drive to get most places I wanted to go.
London and Waterloo have a fair number of finance jobs due to the presence of large life insurance companies, but you won't find anything else close to the GTA for number of finance jobs.
Yep, London, Ontario might be a great option for you. It has great schools, hospitals and parks and lots of finance jobs, particulary TD bank. It is also two hours from Toronto and very close to the Sarnia border crossing into the US. City of London, Ontario Canada
Thanks for your advice. How about the cities of Hamilton or Burlington? Mississauga? Are they expensive cities to live in?
