Question about Canadian French "r" (place, sunshine)

Does the trilled "r" (this one) come across as dialectal? I know it's being replaced by the French R, but exactly what kind of connotation would you say it carries?

Sorry, I'm a fluent second language French speaker but I just don't understand formal linguistic terminology well enough to understand what a trill is or what sound you're referring to. Could you post an audio example?

OK, now I get it. It used to be quite common in Quebec, even in the Montreal area. It is still heard in some regions of Quebec, especially among older people, but it is no longer all that common.

It is still pretty common in some regions of Canada like Acadia, and most Acadians tend speak French with rolled Rs.

Regardless, most people consider this trait to be quaint and folky. It is quite common for people who do not speak this way to say that people who do sound like they are singing when they speak : on dirait que vous parlez en chantant... I guess they find it melodic.
