Tips to land the first job in St John's Newfoundland (home, moving to)

Hello all,

I posted a thread earlier in this forum about moving to St John's Newfoundland.
My husband is fortunate to get a job offer and we are moving there in less than 3 weeks subject for LMO visa.

I am also fortunate to get a work visa as well but I dont yet have a job to go through. After a few research I understand that it would be more likely to get a job by turning up in person handing my resume to those in charge in the companies rather than applying online.

I am in IT. I hope to get an IT job but being initially our visa is valid for 2 years I think maybe I should just do anything just to get the experience.

I have 10 years experience in database administration and application development, CRM and ECDM.

Would anyone please kindly advice me what I need to do to land a job, any job as quickly as possible please? Basically I dont want to sit at home alone and want to start absorbing the canadian life as soon as possible

Here are two sites with job listings in Newfoundland and Labrador. One of the sites lists jobs within the provincial government, where there is possibly some IT jobs listed and the other site is just general jobs.
