I live in Yellowknife NT and I am Jamaican. There is a very small Jamaican community in Yellowknife because most of us live in Toronto, Ontario. One of the reasons we do not live in the north is because we cannot stand the cold weather and the lack of Jamaicans in the north. I have also experienced a lot more prejudice behaviour from white people in the north. This has made me want to return to Toronto. For some reason, there is a sense of superiority of white people in the north especially in the Yukon. I am trying to make a difference by staying in the north. It is a very nice place to live and much more slower pace of life which I love. The slower pace of life is one reason why I stay in the north. Another option is to move to
Calgary Alberta which has a much more larger Jamaican Community.
There might be a few black immigrants here and there up north, But there are no black communities up North.
