I love my NEXUS card. I've had it for three years and it's saved me countless hours that would have been spent standing in queues at busy airports. Being included in the U.S. Global Entry program, and inserting my NEXUS number when booking travel through the U.S. so as to be included in TSA Pre are huge benefits. Those programs cost $100 and $85 respectively, so $50 for NEXUS is a good deal. The application process was uncomplicated. My nearest NEXUS Enrolment Centre in Halifax isn't as busy as others, so getting an interview date was easy. Keep checking back for cancellations. In the event it's useful, here's a link to a post on my experience with the application process: NEXUS card - a traveller's "speed pass" - Packing Light TravelPacking Light Travel

The local border crossing here (Roosville) is tiny and doesn't have a Nexus lane. I travel into Canada a lot for hiking and various outdoor activities, but is there any point since my crossing doesn't have a Nexus lane? Does Nexus lower my chances of being sent to Secondary or have my vehicle searched etc.?

Do you think being a brown Muslim would make it harder to get a card? Because I've been considering trying to get one, especially if I end up going to grad school in Canada.

I have 2 nexus violations
1 for not declaring that my TN visa date was updated - I didn't know about that. My fault though.
2 for taking in a chocolate chip cookie from canada into the US. This stale chocolate chip cookie was bought in chicago.

First time they let me go, the second time I felt like the CBP will make an ISIS style beheading video out of me but they let me keep my card.

Right now I am in "Pending Review" for renewal. I fully expect to be rejected. Anyone have a similar or like experience?

I forgot to update my home address for and used my old address for about 3 years... I also forgot to update my passport info... CBP got hold of me one time while crossing the border. Gave me a long lecture and warned me that they could revoke my card on the spot. I smiled, nodded, apologized, and eventually the officer calmed down, updated my new address and passport info for me, and that was that.

I just renewed my Nexus a few months ago, very smooth experience and they even waived the renewal in-person interview. With CBP, always go in with a positive, calm attitude, admit to any wrong doings on your part without any embellishment, and most cases you'll be fine.

I am a Canadian who just went to the interview yesterday at Montreal Int'l airport Nexus office.

I applied back in August, got my confirmation letter on Nov 10th, and was able to get the interview on Dec 17th. I needed to have a Saturday appointment.

As a Canadian, I saw the Canadian agent first. A nice lady who explained how the program worked from the Canadian side. She took 2 pictures of my iris, which is the identification method when I get back to Canada at airports.

Then I saw the US agent, who had an European accent, and was somewhat hard for me to understand, being french-canadian. He was way less nice than his Canadian counterpart.

He explained to me that my Nexus privilege ended when I was first in line to see the Customs agent. When talking to the agent, I am just like another person who crosses the border, with no advantages compared to others. He also told me that Nexus lines do not want any people crossing with vegetables, meat, or any commercial samples. They don't have time to do that. Those items generate more questions, and Nexus people must not have any of that when crossing. He told me I would receive my card within 2 weeks.

Now, I just can't wait to receive my Nexus card!

Nexus is awesome. I use my Nexus card going from Mexico back to the USA, they treat it the same as a Sentri card. Its so inexpensive for the time saved.

Funny, I never spoke with a US Customs official, just the Canadian official. Maybe because I was TSA pre-check prior to applying for the Nexus card. After talking to the Canadian customs agents, I got my card in two weeks. Used it twice, no problems.

The USA border guards treat you as a disservice for being alive. Why are you going to Canada? Why would you possible want to leave the USA for another place. Who did you see there and how did you two meet? Annoying bastards and get this I have a Nexus card. This only applies to the guards up north. In AZ, CA, TX, when I come back back Mexico I get none of this.

Hate them up North.
