No ice storm here -- just snow.

Oh, shut up!

It's minus 29 here. I'm supposed to go to a NYE dinner party, but I have a feeling the car won't start. Frozen battery or frozen gas line or frozen something or other.

Oh well, at least if he has to walk home tonight it's downright balmy out there so he won't have to worry about freezing his buns off.

Nope. Got lucky. I wasn't home the entire time, but I don't think the power even blipped once in my area.

Gosh darn it GTO; my house in Ontario lost power and didn't get it returned until 10PM Christmas Day.

I however was comfortably ensconced in our house in Florida watching the nastiness on TV.

The Canadian house is set up to sustain power loss with a back-up power system and invertor supplied sump pumps so no harm no foul but the stories of fridge full of Christmas dinners that spoiled for a lot of folks broke our hearts.

We did not come out totally unscathed either as a beautiful Debra Maple in our rear yard, we like to call our Happy Hour Tree , took major damage from a 2" build-up of ice splitting it down the middle. An arborist examining it has written in his report to us that the spring will see it either die or one side continue living in a very unbalanced and fragile state. Dang.

Mother nature flexing her muscles to remind us of just how tenuous our grip on our surroundings really is.
