Did the Rheum check whether you were positive for HLA-B27? Is your CRP normal? Is your CBC normal?

Elevated sed rate is a marker of inflammation... If I were you I would endeavour to get a referral to a different rheumatologist to rule out all of the inflammatory arthritides (including ankylosing spondylitis). Once again, you don't need to move to do this - just take a "short vacation" to Vancouver around your appointment... make a long weekend of it! It's not likely that this is the cause of your pain as there would have been some signs on your MRI - although maybe the MRI was performed so early on in a disease process that the "signs" weren't present yet.

It could be purely muscular and I would also encourage you to seek out a physical therapist in your area for assessment. If the only reason you are moving is to solve your health issue, you might find yourself very dissappointed.

Chronic pain is horrible - I wish you luck.

Yep.

Interestingly, one or the other of the websites about slipping ribs mentioned the possibility of a connection to arthritis.

I suggest London Ontario for you. The London health sciences are tops in just about everything. London is a very affordable city to live in. I have chosen University hospital for treatment for the multiple health problems I have had over the last 11 years. I just can't tell you how great the care has been.

Thanks everyone. I have actually had a blood test they found high ESR but could not figure what was wrong. Initially they tried to pass it off as me being sick and told me to go home. I told them I didn't have a flu so they tested me again and I have high ESR. All this started after I lifted too heavy of a box and pulled something in my back. It makes it very hard to breathe sometimes. my chest goes up like cement. . I can't travel very well because of this and I know it will take more than one appointment to clear the problem so I would like to just get to a city where I can take care of this. also if other problems come up I want to be able to take care of the problem where I live not have to drive far to vancouver or etc another large city to get treatment that is why I want to move back to a city.

I concur totally...London is probably the best city to be in if you have health problems.
