They have their seasons where they can be quite a pest.
Seems Mississippi has cornered the market on Mosquitoes https://www.google.ca/#safe=active&q...in+mississippi
Might give a whole new meaning to airborn ebola virus..
I wouldn't say anywhere. I'm in the Okanagan, and it takes me 30 minutes to get to the nearest lake. This is the furthest I've ever lived from a lake in my life (I've moved 8 times). Almost all communities in Canada are near lakes (with the exception of the prairies). The advantage to the Okanagan is lack of mosquitoes, but I find the lakes a bit too busy for my liking.
There are too many good lakes to name, but I'm a big fan of Slocan Lake.

I guess I meant anywhere in the Okanagan near a lake . Truly central and south Okanagan are best for the lakes I guess.
The Prairies and Canadian Shield are the worst for mosquitoes and black flies {the biting ones} but south of Barrie in Ontario and especially in the SW they are not near as numerous or as bothersome. They are certainly there but not a fraction as much as Northern Ont/Que or Prairies.
When I was in Nova Scotia and NFLD I didn't see any but I was in the cities the whole time.
I used to live in Salmon Arm, and the bugs weren't too bad in town, but just like anywhere in BC, they get worse out of town. That's because they put larvicide in the waterways of cities to kill of any mosquitoes. If I go fishing 1/2 hour from Kelowna, the mosquitoes are thick, though not nearly as thick as the northwestern parts of BC. In Kelowna itself there are very few of those blood suckers.
