There are many millions of firearms owners in Canada. Whatever gave you the idea that possession of firearms was illegal in Canada?
Have a look at the thread in P&OC about the Saskatchewan school shooting. There are some impressive misunderstandings there. I'd suggest that it should come as no surprise that foreigners don't have the detailed knowledge of our gun laws that we Canadians do.

Thanks Chevy, I went and looked at that topic. I see what you mean. Definitely a lot of misunderstandings. I think it's not worth while getting into a discussion about it with that crowd over there in P&OC though so I didn't post anything.
