I live in montreal but maybe someone in toronto knows about my problem.

I just bought a basement unit in a 4 unit condo and I had water leakage in my bathroom. The condo president came down and got a plumber to fix it.

The problem is that the plumber made a whole (with a saw) about 2 feet by 3 feet in my celling to get to a pipe in order to fix the leak.

The president got someone to fix the whole but does not want to paint my celling (there is white stucko on it ). He says that the paint is part of the surface my condo and that the condo should not pay to fix it.

Is he right?

Check your condo association documents. Right or wrong, chances are good that you will be responsible for the painting. You might get better answers in the "House" or "Real Estate" forums.

I had similar problem in condominium in USA. I am not sure if it is some law, I guess a rule from a lawsuit. But my attorney told me that association has to finish it to a primer. Basically they have to fix everything and paint it with a primer, so that all is left for you is to paint it with regular paint. If the stucco is original (if it was done by developer), I believe they should fix it. However, if it was done by a previous homeowner, most likely they do not have to fix it. The best fix to do is to call an attorney. Right down everything you want to say, than they will give you a free answer over the phone.
