Calgary is approx 180 miles south of Edmonton but is 1,300 ft higher in
elevation
Calgary is closer to the Rocky Mtns than Edmonton and therefore benefits
from "Chinooks" (winter warm winds downslope from the Rockies just like Denver,Colorado has)
However, both Calgary and Edmonton can reach bone chilling temps
minus 40 degrees or colder
Montreal has a much more humid climate (similiar to Burlington,VT)
also is generally "snowier" than the 2 Alberta cities
Montreal winters are slighly shorter too ...November can be considered a "winter" month in Edmonton and Calgary (grass is already brown and hard freezes have already occurred)
Montreal in November can still be somewhat "mild" ....average highs around 43degrees /lows 30degrees , grass still green (when not covered with snow)
My problem is I'm about to live in either Calgary and Montreal,
But I don't know which of the two I will like the most...
I want a place where I can find a job easily without having to wait 3 months before I find a job...
If I can get the real situation of the job market in either of these cities... That will be great!
I don't want any magazine analysis because somehow they always try to portray the good side of the city and not the downside ... so it will be greatly appreciated if I can get a " realistic" situation of each of these cities.

Seriously, language will be a significant factor in finding a job in Montreal. Don’t know where you are coming from but you should know that French in Montreal does not equate with French in New Orleans. Other than that, the job market in Montreal is pretty good these days. Though Calgary’s is even better - red hot even.
On the climactic side, note also that though winter comes quite a bit sooner in Calgary and Edmonton than in Montreal, spring also tends to come sooner on the Prairies.

my french is average and more bookwise... oui moi etudie francais pour 5ans et parle un peu. Only spoke it in class though ( being doing it for 5 years)
Let me ask this question though where will I save my money if i work ? Montreal or Calgary? I think this is even my biggest concern as i don't want to be in debt right in the beginning when I'm moving there.

Well, living expenses will be lower in Montreal if you do find a job there, but lack of French is a significant handicap. I don’t know what field you’re in but most people can find a job right away in Calgary, though cost of living there is quite high by Canadian standards (but comparable to other larger Canadian cities like Toronto and Vancouver).

No, I don't live in Calgary. For sure there are financial jobs in Calgary as there is lots of oil and gas financing taking place there. Certainly not as many as in Toronto (5x times bigger) but it's still a city of more than 1 million people with tons of money coming in.
Tons of accounting jobs still available in Calgary but you did miss the boom if you move here now. Still a healthy economy though. Rents and home prices are moving downward so that helps...
Oil and Gas is a good place to be now but if you don't know people to get you into a company and quite frankly don't fit in to what they are looking for, its not for you. Think white, small town/suburban, conservative culture. I'm not kidding, if this culture bothers you, oil and gas is not for you.
Question of course is, can you handle snow in September (or even August)?
