For clubbing I would say Montreal is better than here.

With our stupid by-laws in Toronto they seem determined to shut down all the megaplexes that I got to party in in my younger days, nowadays you can only get little bars to dance in like in Amsterdam.

Depends on what you are looking for, I guess.

Actually you're just citing bars/clubs in the dt core of Toronto though (and I wouldn't categorize Parking/Unity etc as beating the pants off Crews and Tango or Fly either).. You do realize because Toronto/GTA is a lot larger than Montreal there are bars/clubs across the entire urban area. Q**** West for example has ooooodles of gay bars my favourite being El Convento Rico and yes it IS a gay club/drag bar.

We all have our preferences and getting into a debate about which is better is a foolhardy exercise because each has their own merits.. I have a friend from Montreal who prefers the Sauna's in Toronto and i'm being totally serious! That said, to just use a small number of bars in one area as a sample for comparison is well just uninformed and clearly shows one doesn't know Toronto.

Toronto's villiage has made a lot of improvements over the last few years though I wouldn't categorize it as 'upscale' and it certainly still has enough representative examples of 'sleaze' - one of them Steamworks is a staple in the villiage and is certainly in an ugly commie block type structure. Anyway a certain amount of sleaze is an absolute prerequisite to an interesting villiage wouldn't you say
