Was going to give my take on Belleville but noticed this was the op's only post and it was close to 3yrs ago so i guess we'll never know if she made it to Belleville and if she did what she thinks of the place..
They probably weren't able to get an Internet connection in Belleville, though hopefully they managed to get some hydro.
Obviously sarcasm, but having lived on the outskirts of Belleville for 15 years I reserve the right to point out its lack of... anything. The only saving grace for Belleville is that its next closest counterpart is Trenton, which lowers the bar even further.

Depends what you are looking for i guess.
Belleville is nothing special and is just like the other string of small cities between Montreal a Toronto. nice place if you like fishing ,hiking ,biking doing trips around the Quinte area especially tours around Prince Edward county.Personally i'd prefer to live in Kingston as theres a bit more to do..

Kingston at least has the history of the old downtown area and is situated great with more to do. You also get into the nice geography of the area between there and Ottawa.
For me Belleville always seemed confined to the commercial areas on Bell Blvd. and North Front St. with not much else going on whenever we went downtown. Granted, they did do a nice job restoring the waterfront and installing the paved trails all along the shore by the Bay Bridge.
I moved to Belleville 2 years ago now and I am happy with my move. My husband and I are late 40's, early 50's and our kids have moved on, so in a similar situation to the original person starting this thread. There is not much to do here I will say that, more restaurants have started to pop up. The new casino is open and of course the new AHL team of the Belleville Senators draws an ok crowd but I've heard rumours they won't be here long term as the arena they are in wasn't built for an AHL team crowd. There is not a lot of businesses here, so employment is slim pickings. Cheap paying factory labour jobs seems to be a plenty but that is about it. There is a SERIOUS shortage of doctor's so that is a real issue. There is an after hours walk in clinic but you will wait 4 to 5 hrs if not more, there is a walk in telemedicine clinic that is new but can only be used for simple issues as there is no doctor onsite you just see one via a "Skype" type experience, the other walk in clinic had to close as the doctor there was arrested. Having said ALL of that, we like it. It is a slower pace that we were looking for, but has enough to satisfy us for the outings we like, Good luck.
