I have been having the following symptoms for about a week.
lower back pain
gas
a feeling of fullness in my stomach
decreased appetite
bloating
pain in the lower left quadrant of my abdomen.

My mother passed from ovarian cancer when she was three years younger than I am now.
I know the outlook for survival is slim.
I am really terrified.

Does this sound as bad as I think it does? What else could it be that would not be as deadly?

The fact your mother had ovarian cancer is the only reason that you would think of that first given your symptoms. It could be gluten intolerance, IBS, or any number of other things. The pain in the lower left quadrant could be diverticulosis. Please try not to worry yourself so much, although I know that's easier said than done. But try to think the most positive thoughts you can, and keep us posted.

I third that!!

Diverticulitis is painful.

The left lower quadrant is where the descending colon is, where most of the hard stools wait to be expelled. You may have an irritation there..

Good that you have an appt, and not wait unit it might go away!

Try to stay on a clear liquid diet until then. You may need a scope.

She referred me to a GYN for a CAT scan. She said it was not "out of the realm of possibility." AND then she said that she could not treat me any more because I left the office during the two and a half hour wait! So now I need to find another Dr and worry about this.

The CAT scan is not for three weeks! I am really in tears.

I was not crazy about this doctor and she always seemed threatened by me. I am sick of the two hour waits and her flamboyant attitude. Very arrogant and narcissistic. There's another more simple word that begins with a "B"

sounds like you're better off with another dr.

If you don't want to go to the dr she recommended, I suggest Dr Mark Polin. I used to work at Tyler Hospital in Tunkhannock when he was there. I went to him and loved him. Then he went south (to Wilkes.barre) and I want west to wellsboro. That was quite a few yrs ago but he was really nice and knowledgable. I doubt he's changed. I found a phone number for him under google. If you want I could post it here. Or send it in an email?

I also tried ti friend you so I could send you a message but I couldn't find that option.
Please DM me then I will give you my e-mail
Thanks!
