Gastric cancers (prevention, detect)

If someone has chronic gastritis/colitis, what should they do to prevent stomach/colon cancer? What should be done to prevent these types of cancer if someone has these types of digestive disorders? Im not talking about early detection but prevention all together?

Gastric cancer is common, but not strongly correlated with lifestyle/diet. Several dietary factors are mentioned, but because diet is strongly influenced by ethnicity, and ethnicity by genetics, it's hard to really evaluate these things.
