Oh, gee, so much of what we call government is
owned by business.
To run for national office and have a prayer of a chance of winning so much money has to be raised that a Congress person can practically sell his soul just to be competitive with his opponent. Most of that money comes from business.
Heck, the FDA gets much of it's funding directly from drug companies.
Why do you think that we had this financial collapse? Government removed the protective laws that served us since the Great Depression at the bidding of business.
Why do you think other countries cover their entire population at less cost than we now do for only some of the people?
Why do you think things like high fructose corn syrup are banned in some countries, but there is hardly mention of it here and it is in almost everything we eat?
Why do we have these crises in our food supply?
Why have we never settled the illegal immigrant problem properly and finally?
Some even think our mid east involvement is governed by financial interests.
I was repulsed when, at college, we referred to working people as 'resources'.
I find it disturbing that our medicos are now referring to
patients as 'the herd'.
In order to coax good people into making decisions to do bad things to people we depersonalize them. It is not healthy, in my opinion, to classify groups of people in a demeaning way, but we are training a generation to do just that.
I am in no way against business, but it has it's place. It is there to make a better life for all of us. We should not be thought of as servants to it, and we now are.
