I am in the process of buying insurance. My ordered car is coming next week. I have a question here. I first got my license when i was 20 years of age. I lost/revoked my license years later due to unpaid traffic tickets. I am at the Geico page. One question is "how old are you when you get your license". I got back my license 6 months ago (36 yrs old now). The difference between 20 yrs old when i get my license or 36 yr old when i get my license is $1000 more.

Can i put 20yrs old as when i get my license? or do i have to put 36 ? And if i put 20 and get into an accident, can they deny my claim because i got my license back at the age of 36? Anyone know?

I'd put 20 years ago since you're not a newly licensed driver, which I assume is the point of that question....worst that will happen is when they pull your driving record they might charge you the higher rate, I guess? Isn't there a question on the form like, "have you had your license suspended or revoked in the last xxx years"?

That sort of thing may depend on state law; an insurance agent should be able to answer that question.

I would answer 20, as that is the factual answer, but you will most likely find that you will be charged a higher rate once they pull your actual driving record.

I would assume 20 would be the proper answer, but just call their 800 number and sign up over the phone with a live person instead, just to be 100%.
