When buying any auto coverage a lot depends on the agent that is selling you the policy. There are many variances to policies and the agent often will NOT mention what he does not want to mention so its buyer beware. Read and understand all of your policy if possible and make the agent put in writing a clear answer to any question you have, Trying to decipher your coverage later can cost you big money, For example when I bought coverage I always had comprehensive coverage to pay for any broken windshield. When it got broken from a road rock I called my agent and he said "sorry but the box covering that was not checked off in your policy" and they paid zero...

I have always declined this coverage and from reading through this forum I may be in error for doing this. The reason I declined this was because I have collision coverage and health insurance. I also have $100,000 in medical payments coverage.

My thinking was my collision insurance would pay for damage to my car, my health insurance/medical payments would pay for injuries to myself, and medical payments would pay for injuries to my passengers. Can anyone in the know explain why I may wrong in my logic for going without Uninsured/Underinsured coverage for my situation. What benefits would I gain by adding it?

I live in CA and insured through USAA
Lost time at work and lost wages are not covered under MedPay. Nor are general damages.

It's also extremely cheap coverage. You could drop your medpay to your annual deductible on your health insurance plus 10K and probably save money.
