We adopted a kitten from a humane society about 4 years ago. he had a microchip embedded then. I forgot the name of the registery and we've moved since then.

Is there a list of chips registeries I could call to see if he's registered with them? I tried calling the humane society he's registered with, but their records don't go back that far. His status is currently lost, if found, the chip would bring him home, but we have to update it.

Any help appreciated, thanks!

The only I know about is the HomeAgain registry. Otherwise, I would start with Google and just go down the list.

why don't you just call the humane society where you got him and ask them what microchipping service they use?

Just scan the chip and see what it says.

That should give you all the info you need.

Regardless of who the original implant is registered with, I also have all of my cats' chips registered with the AKC.

It costs $17 to register each one, but they will all be in the same database and the info is a lot easier to review and update.

Some of them are registered by Home Again and some by PetLink, and those registrations are still good, but the AKC gives another layer of protection.

Here's a handy site to help identify microchip ID tags.

Very good information to have, thanks!

However, we can't scan the chip, because the cat is lost. He's been gone over 2 weeks, and our hope if fading. But this information is excellent to keep track of the other cats chips, all cats have chips from different registeries.

If Rudy is found, the chip should still be active and connect to our cell phone #, so there's still that hope.

Thanks again for the advice.
