I'm tired of the dust that clay litters bring, even the ones that claim to be 99% dust free. I don't have room for one of those kitty toilets, so I was thinking about switching to a silica based litter. Anyone used these?
thats what i use as im very sensitive to dust and no matter how 'dust free" its not enough, and tempi refused to use feline pine and corn cob based.
the good: NO odor, AT ALL i do a daily scoop and a full clean out once a monht and at full clean out theres still NO odor...solid waste is "petrified" and even that doesnt smell
no dust...
it doesnt seem to track as bad as clumping/clay based litter.
you only need a depth of about an inch.
the bad:
cheaper silaca can be sharp...
look for a larger rounded crystal if you go with a silica based litter.
i probably wouldnt use silica with young kittens (under 12 weeks) because of the risk of ingestion (again the crystals can be sharp)
Both of my cats are adults and have never shown any tendency to nibble on the litter, so I doubt they'll have problems with eating it. What brand do you use?
right now im working through pestell clear choice "low tracking"
