LOL. Cute. Yes, my one cat fetches but only the rings off of milk jugs. I have no idea why but she loves the rings. I will toss it and she runs and brings it back. My other cat just watches and has a look of... "how uncivilized!"
Yes, I have one who fetches. He also makes his own toys when he plays with heavy laces. He drags the lace up over the arm of a chair until it hangs down, then jumps down & swats at it/ plays with it until falls off. He then takes it right back up and sets it up again.
We've got a girl that plays fetch too. It's funny to wake up in the middle of the night with a cat toy next to your head.
Not so funny when it's a dead mouse!! (Yes, that has really happened). Eeeew!
My Rose cat still plays fetch at age 12. The others look at her like she's crazy when she does this, and never join in. When Rose was little and lived outside I saw her jump in the air and successfully catch a flying grackle, and she has always been an excellent mouser. I'll bet fetching and a strong hunting skill correlate.
Years ago I had a cat that would play fetch, one of our cats now plays CATCH - He likes foam ear plugs and will catch it with his front paws then grab it in his mouth and bring it back.
We had a grey tabby that would fetch a leather toy. And a friend had a tuxedo who was obsessed with the plastic rings from milk jugs, he would fetch those. But they wouldn't fetch just anything you threw I don't think.
