Well, we cat lovers have known this all our lives! My female kitty Clarissa picks up on my moods before I do. Nothing like a purring cat in your lap or snuggled next to you in bed. They know.

Jonas was in training to be a therapy cat! We would go to Petsmart every week to socialize him. I had contacted the Delta Society about the testing and everything. It sounds silly since I often talk about Jonas being feral and a biter, but he was always super-good at Petsmart and other places. Sometimes a local group home would bring their residents to the Petsmart to see the birds and fish and Jonas always purred for them.

I was probably fooling myself thinking he would pass the testing, but in the end we found out he couldn't be vaccinated anymore so that ended that. The only time he ever tried to nip anyway at Petsmart was the day I found the swelling on his hind leg where he'd gotten his rabies vaccine a week prior. Poor guy just wasn't feeling well.

My cat Callie spent months as a therapy cat at an asst living/nursing home. She was great....they all loved her!! More than once I heard "she is the most beautiful cat I have ever seen"...

One bedridden lady always requested Callie be allowed in bed with her, to snuggle. After the lady died, her husband wrote me a sweet note, saying how much it meant to his wife to have the cat visits.

But....one elderly woman, quite senile, quickly pounded Callie's head with her hand, (very hard) in 3 fast moves...it was so unexpected and the cat of course was frightened.

We never went back but still, a positive experience.
