The cat, not the vet.

I took Jasmine, my eldest cat (~11 years old) to the vet about ten days ago, because she had very bad diarrhea. I tried changing her foot, etc., but nothing worked. The vet put her on an antibiotic and a probiotic (discourage bad bacteria, and encourage good bacteria!), and then said due to Jasmine's age, we should do a full blood workup, etc. $322 later, and Jasmine is in good shape for an 11-year-old cat! I consider this money well spent; she's the one who sleeps on my bed with me every night.

Now, about giving her the antibiotic pills... The first pill went smoothly. I was able to pop it in, she swallowed, and that was it. The next time she knew better; I had to wrap her in a towel (kitty burrito!) first. Then it just went downhill from there. Much struggling and growling (and Jasmine struggled and growled, too! ), she'd spit the pill out and I'd have to find it, etc...

The last pill dissolved inside her mouth, and she forced it out between her teeth as foaming saliva! Jeez. I'm hoping some of the pill actually made it down her throat. I'm done. Next time I'm asking for it in liquid form, it there is such a thing. I'm not sure who was more traumatized, her or me!

Glad to hear her blood work came out good. Always good to check once in awhile. I have to give my one cat a pill twice a day. It's a rather small pill, but I use the Pill Pocket. I've bought it online before but you can get it at Pet Supermarket or I'm sure at other pet stores. She eats it right up.
