Was watching ESPN and a commercial for these came on ... https://www.getcatsmeow.com/ . I am VERY skeptical of most "as seen on TV" items, but this looks like something my kitties would like. OTOH I don't want to buy it if it's a piece of junk (which, alas, it likely is).
That looks right up my Mickey's alley. He loves it when I move a toy around under a blanket or sheet. I just looked on amazon and found something similar but more expensive, with a lot of reviews.
I looked there because I always google for reviews of as seen on tv stuff, and there were only blog type reviews, which I don't trust. The cat's meow one did look kind of cheaply made, if your cat is the fierce type.
That's funny! I like the idea. I agree with your skepticism of the typical as seen on TV products. They're usually of poor quality, even if the idea is pretty sound.
If you dig around a bit you can often find the seen on TV items in a store. Bed Bath and Beyond usually has a whole shelf or two of them, and they are turning up in other stores as well. I always figure that would make for an easier return if necessary.

Anyone have one of these or something similar?
My cats love these but they only last an hour or so and stop running. Fresh batteries were tried. A different brand of battery was tried. They're made to last no more than 2 hours before they burn out. At least our two didn't last longer than that.

We bought two of these. They lasted no more than 2 hours. We paid $24.99 ea. It was money thrown away.

We've also seem TV items on a shelf in WalMart and large flea markets. It's all crap from China.

I've seen those tv ads and the thought I had was when the cat playing with it catches and stops it, it's probably going to damage the it. It would have to be designed with a clutch or something similar to keep from burning up the motor when pounced on. I doubt that it is, given that it's probably made in China or wherever. It would be a good toy if designed & built right.

Funny, I ALWAYS check amazon too and I saw the same thing! They look very similar, but with the as-seen-on-TV one, you get 2 for less than the price (with shipping) of that one on amazon. The reviews were pretty mixed ... 2 very recent reviews (today & yesterday) are really bad.

Alas, this is what I was afraid of.
Thanks for all the comments, and happy Independence Day to everyone!
