My cat has strange episodes when he was a baby where all his symptoms were that he had been poisoned then after 8 hours he would slowly snap out of it. I even took him to the vet when he was having an episode and she just was baffled and had no idea what was wrong. His blood tests came back normal. Other then spend thousands to see a neurologist we were out of answers. He is now a year old and I know he can't see very well. With that being said his pupils are always dilated no matter with the amount of sun.

Default Mizu

I, too, have a cat with enlarged pupils. Even in direct light they only shrink to about half the size of the iris. I was actually just looking online to see what it might say about this when I came across this blog.
My cat is the baby of two Siamese cats and her eyes are slightly crossed - which you can only tell when the pupils shrink enough to notice it. The parents (the mother pregnant) were saved by a local shelter so I'm not sure where they came from. Mizu was just a 6 week old kitten when my grandkids gave her to me.

Anyone else have a cat with constantly HUGE pupils?-mizu.jpg

Enlarged pupils or not, Mizu is a beautiful girl... even with the shoe lace (?) on her head. Hope her eyes aren't causing her any problems.

Oh, and welcome to the forum. Lots of good cat lovers here.

I have 2 cats, and one has the slits, while the other has BIG EYES. Always has! They eat the same diet...wet food. She sees just fine...can catch bugs, chases the red dot, etc.

Thank you, catdad7x!
I think she is a beautiful cat, too! She doesn't seem to have any problems with her enlarged pupils, but she does look at you a little bit sideways due to having crossed eyes! =)

And yes - that is one of her favorite toys to carry around and play with - an old curly shoelace! She has many toys, though - all things she has found around the house with the exception of a couple of toy mice that I bought for catnip!

Mizu loves to play fetch! She will bring me a twisty from somewhere (????) and drop it in my lap then wait for me to give it a toss across the room. She will then run and pick it up and bring it back to do it again and again! Or, she has several large rubber bands that she likes me to "shoot" across the room for her to fetch! She is such a silly cat!

She just turned one in October - so about a year and a half old.

Do your cats keep their toys in their food bowl? Mizu does. Every time I go to fill her bowl, I find several toys in the bottom

All of my 4 cats are seniors now, and only occasionally play with their toys. But even when they were younger, none of them ever got in the habit of leaving their toys in their bowls. From other posts here in the cat forum, it seems it's not all that uncommon. It would be nice to know why they do it, but I suppose we'll never know. Just another one of those little things they do that makes living with them fun ().

I know this is YEARS after the post, but I'd like to add on to what the other people said. What they said is completely true, and my cat has the same. But I call it "Baby Face Syndrome" because the eyes make them so much cuter into adulthood. And I don't know if this is true with anyone else, but has anyone found their huge dilated cats extra snuggly?

my two 18-year-old girls... Sunshine has normal eyes and Pumpkin has dilated pupils... both are from the same feral mother but different litters... early nutrition deficiencies seem to be a common factor
