I want to know if anyone's kitty was not very active/had decreased appetite from ear infection only. Yes I know ideally she would go to the vet but I am maxed out, so right now I just want to know if the ear infection alone could cause her to be this way.
She is drinking plenty, according to her litter box, but not eating as much as she should, although she does make a deposit daily.
When I found her, she had mites, and yeast and bacteria in both ears. She was on tresaderm for 1.5 months and had revolution. the last ear cytology said they were good, but she started putting them back, hiding, and shaking her head again (though not as bad as when she had mites).
I am using Zymox and after 10 days she seems better but not totally. She is coming out again, using her scratching post, and jumping on my lap.
Before, she only came out when I brought her out and would cling to my shoulder.
Her ears are forward more than they are back now (yay!) but she just isn't active. not playing. not eating as much as she should.
I would love to take her in for a $50 exam + $30 ear cytology + $65 blood panel to see in anything else is going on, but I am already in debt over all that was wrong with her than I got her.
That is why I am hoping that her behavior could possibly be just due to ear irritation.

Early in 2013 my senior cat Stormy developed an ear infection in one ear. I really had no indication there was a problem (no scratching or holding ears back, etc.) until he hid in the closet to sleep and not wanting to come out for anything. He pretty much stopped eating as well. Got him to the vet and on antibiotics and it was cleared up in short order. In his case the ear infection made him very sick and it was causing him pain.
I would definitely make plans to get your cat back to the vet as soon as you can handle it. The infection may have returned or maybe something else going on.

How long on medication before he was eating and acting normally?
If at all possible, I want to delay the vet. It cost me $300 for her ears alone last time, with the repeated checks showing 'yes there is still a problem, keep medicating'.
I am hoping that the zymox works and only to have one visit showing ears are clear.
If she isn't eating normally soon there will be no choice - it will mean this med isn't working or she needs bloodwork to look for other things.

Perhaps a day or so before he started feeling and getting back to normal. I had to put drops (medication) in his ear for about 10 days, but he felt better after the first couple of doses.
