Tonight I was petting Lucky and was shocked to feel a small bump on the side of his stomach area. It is about the size of a pea but noticeable. Really has me concerned, and my next day off is Wednesday so I am going to make an appointment with the vet for that day.
I just had him at the vet about 5-6 months ago and they did the stomach feeling routine and he was fine then. I am really worried and hope it isn't anything serious.
Walter has a couple tiny cysts on his ears that have been there since we got him and the few times we have felt any sort of lump on him was usually a burr under his fur or a tick that he brought in from outside. The ticks were dead because of the medication we give him monthly but they were still stuck on him.
don't panic just yet could be a fat deposit my dog used to get them all the time and then my cat got one and I knew exactly what it was cause the vet told me how to feel them . Im praying that it is just a fat deposit and not anything serious .
Thanks, everybody. It does feel sort of firm, and rounded. Maybe the size of a large pea. It is more noticeable to the touch when he is standing but when he is laying on the other side it seems smaller.
I am going to call tomorrow when they are open to make the appointment for Wednesday. It really scared me when I felt it.
It can be firm and movable. Try to grab around it, like under it, and try wiggle it slightly from side to side. If you feel you can sort of lift it up with the skin, it's not as scary as if they are immobile.
That said, my basset has had an immobile benign mass on his chest the size of a golf ball cut in half for quite a few years, and it hasn't caused him any problems. So not all immobile masses are bad.
