As my cat gets older she's getting to be an even pickier eater. Trying to find something she will eat, I cut off a piece of pork roast for her which she absolutely devoured.
Which got me to thinking -- why have I never seen pork flavored cat food? Friskies has about 50 different flavors on the shelf to choose from, but not one is pork flavored.

I asked a similar question here quite a while back, but I asked about ham (which is the same thing). As I recall, it was suggested that pork/ham isn't good for pet food because of the sodium content, which I suppose would make sense.
I know one thing, there's only one people food that my cats go crazy for other than tuna... and that's ham. I almost get mugged when I try to make a sandwich. As with most people food, they never get more than a small bite or 2 on occasion.
I just looked for the bacon Friskies at Fred Meyer and they don't have it yet. She ate Iams crunchy most of her life, and she'll eat the tiny cans of Iams wet most of the time but they're so expensive I get annoyed when I have to throw half of it out.
I feel your pain. I've got a senior with some health issues and she's being VERY picky about what food she will eat. Everytime I find something she likes, I go out & buy a bunch of it & then the next day she decides she isn't eating it anymore. Thank goodness I have 2 other cats who will eat anything! They've been getting all her leftovers!
I never thought about ham/pork flavors. We had to get some baby food for her and on a whim my husband picked up one jar of ham flavor (amongst a bunch of chicken). I keep ignoring it thinking she will have no interest in ham... but now you have got me thinking!
Thank you Annie! I checked out the Precise website and found a retailer within walking distance! I'll check them out tomorrow. Hate to buy an entire case online and then have her turn her nose up.
BTW, someone just told me the reason you don't find pork flavored cat food is because all the yucky bits of pigs are used up in hot dogs and head cheese. Nothing left over for the cats. LOL

I buy the new bacon jerky (for people) and cut it up into pieces for my cats. They love it. I think some of the Party Mix flavors include Pork.
