Gypsy is a really good cat, so rather than act out, she's gone all dramatic. First, I'm working my way toward the new clock time, so when she asked for food, I said the usual You have to wait. But since she was right and the clock had changed, I gave her a treat and went on my way, figuring we'd split the difference and I'd feed her in a half hour. The H came along and she ran right up to him to chatter about being starving and how I hadn't fed her and so on (at least this was his interpretation of her chatter, having heard me telling her to wait). So he said It's too early, you have to wait - and she flopped over on her side and lay there like he had robbed her of her will to live. When he passed back by the kitchen, she was flat on her back, legs in the air like a dead cartoon cat, impatiently waiting.
Slept right through it. But I did pick up a new cardboard box for her a few days ago at Sam's Club. Waiting in line I spied the perfect box with lid, and opening at one end, some kind of display box. Put in fresh towel. Just when I didn't think she could sleep any more she crawls back into it.
I don't think either of my cats noticed. I am very sure the dog didn't notice.
The cats have dry food all day, and a Sheba treat sometime between 1930 and 2030.
The dog gets fed when I get up, sometime between 0500 and 0730, sometimes as late as 0800. Then she gets fed sometime around 1500-1530.
Since the times vary, they are not tied to a clock.
I feed mine on a schedule so I started shifting it 10-15 minutes each day a few days before the time change. There was some mild concern at first but all is well now
The clock change isn't much of an issue at my house. They still get fed at the same time of day, as is their preference. They leave the doing-the-math time adjustment to me, because they're above that sort of thing. To do otherwise would bring a flurry of complaints, and a few 'F's on my cat-servant report card.
It's just another of the many reasons I wish they would just pick ST or DT, and leave it at that.
They have adjusted better than me & DH. I was on the phone yesterday afternoon, & when I got off at 4pm, he had dinner cooked lol ( he was hungry) the cat has a dry feeder so she snacks whenever she wants.
My dogs and cats sail right thru time change. --- it's ME that hates it and the adjustments I make for the horses.
Feeding livestock is the big time change deal, especially dairy cows. My father always kept one clock in the kitchen on the same time 365/days so milking wasn't interred with. This was back in the 1950's and we were a small dairy operation that couldn't afford to lose an ounce of sale milk.
Nupe the cats and dogs get little sympathy from me, my horses get it all --- colic is not fun, not even with the meds sitting in the refrigerator just in case I need them-----_

Wow, I can't thank you enough for putting a few cat histrionics into perspective.
