I have a 7 month old Orange Tabby. He runs around the house late at night, knocks over plates and dishes. Sprays very strong urine scent all over the walls. He hisses and scratches people in the face when you pick him up. When we let him outside to play, he picks fights with other cats and bites their ears. Even ripped one cats ear off. At night he likes to jump on the bed and puts his anus in my face. Refuses to eat dry food, and when my wife and I do feed him dry food, he claws at our legs in disgust and only eats when we give him wet food. He also won't drink water if the bowl isn't 1000% clean. We are at Witt's end and I want to throw him out but the wife refuses. How do we deal with such a crazy cat?
Has he been neutered? He is really acting exactly like an unneutered Tom cat. As far as water goes I'm a failure there. My cat will only drink running water - or hot bath water. I just make sure he drinks daily and try to get him to eat wet. He prefers dry or an in between food he loves, like meaty kibble, but it's not wet enough to satisfy me.
First off, is your cat neutered? If he is not, that could account for the spraying. The nighttime activity is not that unusual, sorry - cats are somewhat nocturnal and will often run around the house or jump off furniture during the night. I have a 19 pound female who will jump off the kitchen counter and sound like a burglar breaking in in the process. A cat presenting his hind quarters to your face is his version of saying "Hi"; he is willing to share his scent with you. I've had some sit on my face or back their butts right up to my face - it's just normal behavior if they love you. As for his not liking dry food, that's a GOOD thing. Dry cat food is not good for cats; wet food is so much better for their health and digestion, so you should feed him good quality wet food instead. And keep his water bowl 100% squeaky clean so he won't get a urinary infection from dirty water. If you wash the bowl daily, it's not difficult.
It's also better if you don't let your cat outside, as it will keep him from fighting with other cats as well as prevent him from being chased/killed by dogs or hit by cars. Fighting with other cats is due to territorial protection of his yard space. Cats that live indoors live longer, period.
So, any other problems or questions? Have you had other cats before?
You've got to get him neutered and immediately. Hopefully it's not too late and he won't continue to spray. And if there are other intact cats in the house, they should be done, too.
Keep on with the wet food. For all the cats. It's much better for them, you'll have fewer vet bills.
Talked to my wife about the neutering process and she started to give me a lecture on animal cruelty. She loves animals to death. She has grown attached. Is there ny way to deal with the B.S from the cat without neutering??.
No. The cat's behavior stems from all that testosterone in his system. Neutering will stop that. There is absolutely nothing cruel about neutering. The surgery is painless (under anesthesia). There is very little "down time" for the cat, other than the day of the surgery and maybe the day after. I think it's cruel to let him get in fights and maybe be seriously injured.

Thank you. Do you have a reccomendation of an all natural cat food ? Dry and wet. My wife is asking.
Somebody suggested smacking... Do NOT use physical punishment. This will only result in your cat getting scared of you and anxious and might increase his aggression.
As people have already suggested, get him neutered ASAP. Hopefully this will solve the spraying issue and might also reduce his aggression, especially against other cats. Also get him checked out by a vet to make sure that there are no medical reasons for his aggression.
When he shows signs of aggression towards you, you are better off walking away or making a noise at him (e.g. hissing, shouting "ow", squeaking - this is how kittens learn from their mum cats and litter mates as they will make noises when play gets too rough ). Again, do not use physical punishment.
Since he is still quite young, he needs a lot of playtime. Use toys (not your hands), e.g. Da Bird or Cat Dancer, as often as you can. A long play session before bedtime might also reduce his nighttime antics!
Hope it works out for you, the wife and your fur baby!
