I would really love to actually to talk to my Cat in a way he understands and tell him how much I love him! I'm no Cat whisperer nor will I ever hire one! (I don't have $$$ to spend lol)
Do you think The Cat Language Bible is a good guide to follow?
I was just reading https://catloverhere.com/2018/04/25/...d-this-review/ review and it does look good BUT I really want other peoples feedback..Have you tried it or do you think it's good to follow to build that connection and bond with your Cat through conversation?
Looks like it might be worth it (if not too expensive). You're bound to pick up some useful tips I would think. I lived with cats for 30 years, and still don't know everything there is to know about them (I doubt that's possible).
I tend to put more stock in the experiences of real cat-people, rather than feline 'research studies'. So you might want to take any 'clinical studies' with a grain of salt.
Also, I think that while some signals are fairly standard, not all cats communicate in quite the same exact way. Some of it has to do with how they are socialized when they're little. A cat whose non-verbal cues are usually heeded, and who isn't one of the "talkative" breeds, might rarely make a sound. Mine is clever enough, he only uses vocalizations to get my attention when I'm out of the room, (heaven forbid) behind a closed door, or ignoring him. Watching TV or looking at my phone. But if I'm looking at him, he uses body language to communicate. He knows I understand him.
I've known cats who were rough-housed, or who had humans that wouldn't respect "stop petting me" requests and such, who were far more apt to break out the claws and teeth with far less warning, or with no warning. If nobody listens to you, when you have a very flippy tail and you are asking very nicely to be left alone...you stop asking nicely and start making people bleed. It only makes sense.
I'd be semi-interested in reading such a book, but mostly in the hopes of entertainment.
