Has anyone every heard of doing this? I spoke with a lady who does rescue work and she said we could buy the largest dog formula and put .8 ml on cats over 5 lbs and .5ml for cats under 5 lbs.

I mentioned it to the vet and they do not recommend it. I was just wondering if any of you have heard of doing this...

I do it with Advantage, but I've never used Frontline. My neighbor used Frontline on his cats, and one of them had a reaction, and developed a bald spot. The hair grew back in within a couple of weeks, though. He now only uses Advantage on them.

A friend of mine did that. She was told by her vet that it is the exact same stuff and how much to use on her cat.

The local vet recommended this also...said it was the same formula and would save money. My sister does this with her dog and cats.

I just order it from eBay, and it comes in a "kit." It contains the tube of Advantage, a syringe, and a tiny glass vial. The bonus is that is costs much less than buying a 4-6 pack of tubes!

Moved are you saying you order the dog kind or the cat kind?

Is it a consensus that I should try the advantage? I would love to save some money and keep it on them ev mo...

I have been using the DOG Advantage on my cats, the strays that hang out here and ferals we have trapped, for years!.. I buy the big dog size (55#) and ONE big dog size will treat FIVE cats! 8mL per 10 pounds.. My vet knows I do this and furnished me with the correct measure dispenser to use. I know that is the exact same thing as the cats Advantage, just packaged in a larger size. The shelter I use to work at did the same thing but I knew about it before I went to work at the shelter.. Keep in mind, this is for ADVANTAGE ONLY... not the other A.....one.

This is not uncommon for people with many pets of various sizes. I worked as a vet tech in college and we gave people the doseages for each pet and handed them a syringe. Easy as pie.

Sounds like you can use the DOG Advantage on cats but not the DOG Frontline on cats

When I order from eBay (the only place I order from), you pick either under 9lbs or over 9lbs, and they send you the appropriate tube. In my case, I have a 16lb cat, so I order over 9lbs Advantage, and they send me a tube for a 55# dog. It comes with a syrine, a tiny vial to put it in, and the paper for proper dosage.
