We've had Cosmo since 2001, and he was our only until 2007. My wife knew not to let me go though a shelter display downtown, but let me anyway, where I found Ozzie.
They didn't get along well (Well Ozzie does, but torments Cosmo quite a bit, and Cos can't see that he's just playin'). Cosmo started to vomit right after eating. I asked the vet about this and she told me to put a large rock in his food bowl, so he wouldn't eat so fast. He said that the cat was worried that the new guy would eat his food (and he would if we let them). We feed them the same food, just different bowels. We'll catch both of them eating out of the other's bowls...they think they are soooo sneaky.
I'm going to try this. We inherited a new cat a few weeks ago and my 8 year old male has been wolfing down his food and vomiting pretty regularly since then. Just now in fact (eww).
It may not just be her chowing down too fast. I have one who can't eat anything with wheat or grains in it. Makes her *** almost immeadiately. Notice how they never barf on the kitchen floor...always on the rug!
We just stopped giving them so much food at once. It wasn't an issue for GirlKitty, but BoyKitty wolfed his food down in the morning, and then was full of energy running all over the house. Invariably, after 20 minutes of running around, he'd barf up his breakfast. *bleah*
Now we give them a scant 1/8 cup of dry food in the morning with their wet food, and a couple more teeny scoops of dry throughout the day. They also eat more of their wet food this way. Little stinkers.
