Our female kitten was spayed 3 weeks ago. Now she is exhibiting behavior like she's in heat. She rolls around on the floor, purrs incessantly, makes that weird cooing noise, and really responds when you rub her just above the tail.

Is this normal? Do spayed cats still show signs of heat? Thanks.

It could mean that they haven't removed all of her reproductive tract- a visit to the vet is in order.

Sometimes they'll do that, but it doesn't mean that the vet didn't take everything out. Some female cats are just like that, even when they're spayed.

Pay no attention to what Panther Pride has to say.

She seems to be normal now.

She was just in a good mood, I guess.

Its rare but sometimes they leave part of the overie.. I'd check with a vet... its more common with males... one of my pcas had a friend with a cat like this, his testicle was un desended.

All our 4 cats are neutered. 3 females and 1 male. One female and the male will roll around on the outside cemented patio (under our supervison) and make "in heat" noises. I just assumed it had something to do with be allowed outside??

When we pet ANY of our cats right above the tail, all their butts go up in the air.

LMAO ... But three weeks is nothing; there are still hormones racing around in her. She'll settle down soon. Our female cat -- after the shock of the surgery wore off a few days later -- did the same thing.

Our cats are the same way when you pet them around the base of the tail -- their butts go up in the air, and they purr like there's no tomorrow. "Pleasure" is their middle name, hormones or not.

This is a common behavior in both male and female cats. That's her prey, not her baby.
