Yesterday I was sitting in my bedroom watching TV and my cat Little Bit and Baby Kitty are running in and out playing as usual. Then Little Bit started to act strange and looked all around room and Baby Kitty came in and started doing same thing.

It was like they were watching something flying around room. No there was no bug or anything like that and they were real agitated and acting like never before.

Then Little Bit jumped up on bed and was spinning around and was ducking like someone swatting at him. Baby Kitty was just staring at him from floor. Then Little Bit let out a gutteral noise and was knocked over and slid across bed and fell on floor on his back and both cats ran out like I have never seen before.

We just bought this house 2 months ago and love it and it was built in 1900. Nothing else weird has happened and when this was going on I did not sense any ill will.

So what was happening?

Cats are funny that way. They probably either saw a really small bug (they can see much better than us) or they're imagining things just for fun and to keep us wondering

My cat does similar things. She starts staring at "nothing" and sometimes makes sounds as she starts following "nothing".

Personally, I do no believe in ghosts. Cats can smell so much better than us and see small things. If they're bored, I think they're capable of making things up.

We have lots of critters that like to run across the roof. Sometimes I hear them sometimes not but the cats always do and they watch the (noise) as it goes across the ceiling. I saw a few, one was a raccoon, another a tree rat. I even saw a big lizard do it.

If you were in California, I'd tell you that the Big One was about to hit.

Once I saw (I thought) a large black bug flying down the hall. Apache (now deceased) jumped and snapped at the air. This went on for a few days, although I never saw the "bug" again. Imagine my surprise when I saw Apache sitting with eyes glued on a baby bat clinging to the wall. Ugh!

I've got to ask. What is a tree rat?

Sounds like what cats do to me. Prolly saw or maybe heard something. Sometimes cats pick up on things we can't. Could even been something they heard like water running through a pipe. It's nothing to be upset about. Sometimes cats are just jumpy for no reason. I have one like that at home. So don't worry too much!

I think they are refering to a squirrell.

So what happened to it? I think bats are cool. The get rid of insects, and the great majority of them are harmless unless they are rabid.
