Does anyone else have a cat who likes to eat and play at 2:00 a.m.? If so,how do you cope with it?

Most cats are nocturnal....sure they catnap, but for the most part are up playing all night. ( The old throw the cat out the door for the night sceniro )Just like kids...if you play some interactive games...tire them out so to speak, give them a meal before bedtime, they are more apt to sleep longer. But don't count on it
Our youngest, Jax...and you can set your watch by him, jumps up on the bed at 3:30am...wants some attention, purrs and snuggles into your neck for about an hr. and then is off to play with the rest of the crew.

Have tried both of those and they don't work.

LOL....like I said, don't count on it! It's hard to take something inheirtdly ingrained into them and make them follow our schedules. We have found as they aged, they seem to mellow out more and more content to lounge in the early mornings. That's not to say, sometimes it sounds like a herd of elephants running down the hallway at 2am.

Yes! Last night it was 4am. It doesn't bother me since I'm a night owl. I was just heading to bed last night when 3 of them decided it was time to play. I cope by pulling the covers over my head to protect myself when they're chasing each other across the bed. And I play possum or they think there are bed mice if I move a muscle!

It's just what cats do. Cats don't understand humans sleep at night. Mind seem to go through fits and starts of playing at night. Mine think it's fun to play tag and make me the base! Try turning down the furnance a few degrees and see that helps.

They sleep all day; what do we expect? I suspect our two bop around the house all night; they don't bother us until about 4 a.m., when they decide it's time to be petted and cuddled, followed shortly thereafter by demands for breakfast.

the cats, not so much.....

now the DOGS..... 3:00 AM seems to be the time that one or both feel the need to go out for a minute or two......

this morning, it was dave ..... decided to wake me up by playing with bailey on my bed .......

not complaining ..... at least they let me know..... i would rather be up for 10 minutes than be faced with what might happen if they DIDN'T let me know......

<<yawn>>

I scrunch down deeper in my bed and pull the covers up over my head.

I vote for putting a pillow over your head with the covers up to your chin, and if that still doesn't work, close your bedroom door. If your still being bothered, invest in a pair of good comfortable ear plugs. You will eventually get to a point, that the noise will not bother you. And yes, with time, the cats do settle down and are not quite so boisterous! Have fun while it lasts!
