We have 4 cats. The "baby" who is the only one that chews cords will turn two soon. I have read that they outgrow the desire to chew cords.. but you say yours are 4. Darn it!

Our baby seems to like just skinny cords and we have been able to hide those from her. Good luck to you!

If nothing else works... Get some cayenne pepper, about a tablespoon in a bowl. Add just enough water to make a wet paste. Use a paint brush and "paint" your wires with the paste. Once the water evaporates the pepper is left on the wires. One bite and my cat never chewed a wire again and that was seven or eight years ago.

I have heard this before!! And I implented it years ago on a tabby we adopted.. I almost died laughing. It would half break your heart / half leave you in a fit of giggles. One gnaw on the phone cord, a very puzzled look turning into a horrified look and she bolted - I found her an hour later laying next to/draped over one of the many water bowls, she gave me the dirtiest look imaginable... lol. She drooled and slept by the water bowl for the rest of the night.

But you're right about it doing the trick. It never happened again.

Default power cords

Bubba had a bad habit of chewing on cords. He chewed through the cord on my mom's electric blanket. Luckily she noticed it before switching it on!!!

I kept telling him, he was going to wake up a Curly Coated Rex one of these days if he didn't stop.

He eventually did. He will still rub his face on them...but I haven't seen him chew or evidence of chewing in awhile....

I find that if I want cats to stay away from things (electrical cords or whatever), it works best to try play with the cat, whan they are Really not in the mood for fun, with these things (the cords) (uplugged obviously) and kind of irritate them a bit now and then with it, they will learn to associate the cord with annoyance and avoid it. Works for me with every cat. Good luck.

Our first cat (kitten) chewed on all the cords that were available. I kind of 'baby proofed' them all...stapling them to the base of the wall and things like that. It wasn't long after that he lost interest in chewing them altogether.
