Whether she "earned it" or not is irrelevant. He was stupid and hard headed just like too many rich young fools are, male or female. He hooked up with her too young (wasn't she 15 or 16 and dropped out of school?) got married too young since her parents were going to turn him in for statutory rape unless they got married. Instead of tossing them some shut up cash and walking away he went through with it with no pre-nup, in a no fault state. His parents warned him. His boys probably warned him. He didn't listen and yup he cheated a lot.

I don't agree that it is because they were young. Look at Mel Gibson. He was married 27 years and his wife cleaned up! He wasn't that young. Another look at Paul McCartney and Heather Mills divorce. They weren't even married that long and she cleaned up pretty nice in the divorce. What about Russell Brand and Katy Perry? Some people are saying he is entitled to half of what she made in the last 18 months of their marriage which is like 20 million. At least Vanessa tried to stick it out for 10 years! Russell and Katy didn't even last 2 years and he is about to clean up plus he makes his own millions!

Fourteen months to be exact. Russell shouldn't get a damn thing for a fourteen month marriage.

Thats exactly what I'm saying. If I was a advisor to a man with money I would discourage them from marrying. Its a lose ,lose situation. If your anywhere from poor to middle class, then find get married. It might help you. But if your wealthy(unless she gave birht to your kids) you're making a mistake.
The divorce laws should be revised. What is yours before the marriage is yours. Whatever you, solely, earn is yours. what is earned through an equal effort between husband and wife should be divided equally. (ie: if husband n wife decide to open a restaurant and they are both involved in the day to day operations.)

This chick got a good paycheck.

Would the settlement have been different had Kobe been faithful?

There would probably be no divorce, in the first place.

People divorce frequently for reasons other than infidelity. It seems that the outrage is at how much her settlement is and his infidelity. Not the divorce itself. Therefore, my question is whether or not the settlement would have been different had Kobe been faithful?

edit : just researched, yes she pretty much gets the lucrative settlement regardless of what causes the marriage to dissolve.

But your point is moot.....meaningless and contrived.

He cheated on his wife and that is all we have to go on.

woulda , coulda , shoulda means nothing. He should have been faithful.
