"Exhaustion" - The Hollywood affliction (pretty, Family, news)

I see in the news that Demi Moore was hospitalized for exhaustion. Seems that a lot of celebrities have this affliction at one time or another, but I've never known anyone personally to seek medical attention because they were "exhausted".
I usually just take a nap or relax in a chair for a while.
So, is this actually a medically quantifiable condition?
Like...EAT A COOKIE Demi! I thought she was pretty health conscious, but last night I read that it was related to substance abuse. Could you imagine the average person going to oh, say, the emergency room for exhaustion? She must have really good insurance!
I am not defending the use of "exhaustion" for celebrity ailments/problems, but if I were in their shoes, having a very painful time with divorce (been there), or substance abuse, it would just add greatly to my emotional pain to see it splashed over the headlines of TMZ or People.
That on top of already having had your husband's many infidelities splashed on the aforementioned headlines...
