It is absolutely for publicity BUT not for her, just for Match.com. Do you think Actress Jennifer Hudson goes on TV to talk about Weight Watchers to get publicity? Of course not! She was hired by them to sell/promote their brand.

Celebrities may get paid to endorse a product, but that does not mean that seeing them on a consistent basis in an advertising campaign is not a form of publicity for themselves.
It keeps them in the public eye and relevant. It is a win/win situation for the product and the celebrity.
One could argue that Valerie Bertinelli's weight loss campaign put her back on the map and helped to revitalize her career. Until that campaign, she had pretty much faded into obscurity.
BTW.....I remember Valerie.....but I can't remember which weight loss system she promoted.
I have been a fan of Martha Stewart for years. I appreciate her promotion of home keeping, cooking for family, and entertaining well, as being things that are important. She's always been very attractive, and she is a person who has achieved much. I know several people who have met nice partners online, and I wish her luck.
The thing is, she has a terrible personality, or she would have snapped up a second husband a long time ago. I loved her old (pre prison) TV show, with it's fabulous and beautiful production values. Her after prison TV show, featured a celebrity of the day who was there to plug their movie or book. This ruined the show, but more importantly, it made Martha's inability to relate to other people, glaringly obvious. I doubt if she really wants to find a partner. She seems to be happy doing her own thing. She even said in the interview, she wants a plus one to drag places. I bet neither of those two nice men will stick with her once the newness wears off.
If I were a rich older celeb and wanted to meet someone, I'd hire a professional matchmaker and keep it very private, as do many rich people.
