I heard on the news the character Miss Crabapple will be retired from The Simpsons.

RIP Marcia.

I actually really enjoyed her autobiography. She was a character with an unusual way of looking at things:

Jack Riley's still around, he played abrasive Mr. Carlin. Although he was never an official cast member, he was around for a lot of episodes so it seemed like he was. I'm not sure if the actress who played Bob's sister is still alive.

Pat Finley? Yes, she is still alive.

Interestingly, the actress who played a temporary receptionist filling in for "Carol" on a couple of episodes, Kristina Holland, is now a practicing psychologist! Perhaps she got the idea from working for "Bob Hartley"?

I don't watch The Simpsons, but do remember her well from the Bob Newhart Show.

I read that she'd not only battled complications from breast cancer, but also tripped over her cat and broke her back a few months ago. Apparently, it was a downward spiral from there and she also contracted pneumonia.
