I read an article about Joan Fontaine and her sister, Olivia de Havilland a few weeks ago, about their not speaking to each other for more than 40 years. Very sad for sisters to be so estranged. I imagine that Olivia (who apparently lives in Paris) will not attend the funeral (if for nothing else, age, since she was the eldest sister).

Anyway, I hope Joan finds peace, as well as her sister.

She was a wonderful actress.

I was always curious about the estrangement between her and her sister.

I remember her mainly from Gunga Din. She was the love interest. Other than the elephant.

Enjoyed her work. I understand she lived quite a active life in Hollywood as well with lots of affairs.
From an article about her I also read this:

In her later years, Fontaine had lived quietly at her Villa Fontana estate about 5 miles south of Carmel, enjoying its spectacular view of wind-swept Point Lobos.
I am familiar with this area and what a beautiful place to live one's later years or any years. RIP

She was a wonderful actress. One of her lesser known films is called 'Letter From An Unknown Woman' made back in 1948 co-starring Louis Jourdan. She is great in this movie. RIP Joan Fontaine.

From what I have read, the reasons that Ms. Fontaine and Ms. DeHavilland were estranged for so long were petty.
