Sad news!

I hated the things Billy Clyde did, but both the actor and the character were a treat to watch. It was so great that the producers of the All My Children reboot figured a way to work him into the plot.

Can't you just hear him verbally abusing Estelle, or Donna, or Dixie-bird?

Here's a clip of All My Kids from 1984, with Matthew Cowles and Christine Baranski in the same scene:

I don't remember her being on the show, but that was a long time ago! And note the actresses playing Nina Cortlandt Warner and Liza Colby.

I didn't know he and CB were married either.

Loved to watch him on AMC. RIP, Matthew.

and no matter what else the actors and actresses did later, to me, they were always the characters they played on AMC.......

'77 is about when I started watching it too. I stopped soaps after Santa Barbara was cancelled - loved that show! So it was the early 90's when I stopped watching, I guess.

Billy Clyde Tuggle was my favourite soap villain ever. I remember him referring to the PVPD as "the piggly wigglies" and his cane as his "persuadiator". And Dixie Bird...

Such sad news to hear that Matthew Cowles has passed. I feel sorry for his wife and family. I did know that he was married to Christine Baranski, but didn't know that they had two daughters.

Billy Clyde....the man you loved to hate......Mathew played the character flawlessly......one of the best characters on AMC.

So glad we got to see him again on AMC2.
