Frank Sinatra Jr., who carried on his famous father's legacy with his own music career, has died at age 72. The Sinatra family said in a statement to the AP that Sinatra died unexpectedly Wednesday of cardiac arrest while on tour in Daytona Beach, Fla. No other details were provided. Sinatra Jr. was famously in the headlines at age 19 when he was kidnapped and held for ransom, recounts Variety.

I have already commented on this sad event in another thread elsewhere. Frank Jr had a hard path to follow. Being given the same name as his famous father, and then deciding he wanted to become a singer.

He had a difficult relationship with his father in his young days. His dad was away working much of the time, and this meant there was a distance between them.

But, in Frank Sinatra's later years, he turned to his son to help him. He needed someone close he could depend on, as his health declined, but he carried on performing.

Frank Jr became his manager, music director, and conductor. This job brought the son and father close together. This I believe, is all Frank Jr ever wanted. RIP.
