He was 91. I liked him in Alien.

A Navy veteran of WW-II Navy who used the G.I. Bill at UKY to better himself. So sad when we lose these great guys.

My wife and I remember him well from Cool Hand Luke.

IMDB page on Harry Dean Stanton.

Wiki page on Harry Dean Stanton.

WAPO page on Harry Dean Stanton.
Excerpt: "He was widely loved around Hollywood, a drinker and smoker and straight talker with a million stories who palled around with Jack Nicholson and Kris Kristofferson and was a hero to such younger stars and brothers-in-partying as Rob Lowe and Emilio Estevez."

RIP ....a really great character actor.

He was fantastic in Paris, Texas (strange but cool Wim Wenders film).

Also memorable in a small role in my fave movie "Two Lane Black-Top".

He was great in "Twin Peaks: The Return."

David Lynch statement:

“The great Harry Dean Stanton has left us,” Lynch wrote in his statement. “There went a great one. There’s nobody like Harry Dean. Everyone loved him. and with good reason. He was a great actor (actually beyond great) — and a great human being — so great to be around him!!! You are really going to be missed Harry Dean!!! Loads of love to you wherever you are now!!!”

He was great in Red October playing Patrick Swayze's father as well . and he also played an angel in a Christmas movie with mary Steenburgen . Sad how many fine actors we are losing lately .

Great actor. Loved him in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me. I am going to watch Paris, Texas tonight. I am not a big Wim Wenders fan, so I never bother to watch it before.
